She's "Free, free, free!"

We've been enjoying more sunny(ish) weather here at Dolores Delargo Towers and, once again, pottering in the garden has preoccupied my day.

It is however, our beloved Patron Saint Miss Bette Davis' birthday - so I must obviously drop everything to pay the grande dame her due respects...

To help us celebrate here is the lady herself, "singing" Single on the Hollywood Palace show in 1965:

[Fact: the song Single was written by the prolific George David Weiss (who also penned such classics as Can't Help Falling In Love, What a Wonderful World, Lullaby of Birdland and The Lion Sleeps Tonight) as a "reply" song to Richard Burton's A Married Man.]

Bette Davis (born Ruth Elizabeth Davis, 5th April 1908 – 6th October 1989)

  2. Sure you know already but the mighty Bette is on Radio Four Extra at 6:30 next week on Tuesday, it's an old Home Service interview and she is an even more prickly guest than Jackie Trent
